Not tried the freeware yet, but as long as it works it is the best as long as it stays free.

I have the full version of the Adminsoft opackage. It is a great software if you are an experienced bookkeeper or an accountant. I dont think it is designed for the amateur or a student like me unless you are prepared to have a text book next to you and prepared to spend hours learning. There is very little support. For example the facility for entering an early settlement is excellent but when it comes to posting, the "post allocation" button is ghosted and because you cannot post it, the ledger doesnt balance. There are similar examples like that. I am sure it can be resolved if only there is some support.
An Adminsoft forum might be a good idea where we can bounce off each other.
Another drawback, from my limited experience, is that there is no facility for bank recnciliation. I am told that this is more crucial than stock control
Some of the help features are direect and to the point when compared to some softwares,(eg QuickBooks) i have been
looking at to get me started.
Some other problems include "Returns". To post returns you have to use credit notes and you cannot have a record of what has been returned. Might this be resolved by creating a Returns, (by customer and to supplier/vendor), Account just as I have created purely by accident a "discount received" or "discount allowed" accounts, you then wonder whether this is an asset or a liability Your review
